Casino Pride in Goa: Affordable Gambling Without Cutting Corners

Moored minutes away from Casino Big Daddy and Deltin Royale, this cruise casino shares its DNA with Majestic Pride in Panjim, Casino Paradise in Porvorim, and Casino Palms in Baga. Nestled in the lap of luxury, it is reflective of a gaming environment where no one runs out of entertainment.

All this and more makes Casino Pride a must-see for any visitor to this Pearl of the Orient. No wonder it tops or at least makes it to every list of the best casinos in Goa, including mine. If an online gambling hardliner like me can be in hog heaven playing there, imagine what it must have in store for fans of lively brick-and-mortar casinos!

Speaking of gambling on the web, you must also try these top online casinos in India I’ve selected just for you. Find the best legit brands that come with your favorite casino games and pay for sure when you win.

Okay, without digressing any further, let me share my experience of a long-pending visit to this incredibility of a floating casino.

A Place to Live your High Roller Dreams

Goa’s Panjim area on Google Maps is dotted with a motley of casinos, both offshore as well as onshore. It’s not difficult to understand why this city is known as a casino paradise.

My online search for Goa-based cruise casinos had taken me to this part on Maps where I spotted Casino Pride for the first time and instantly confused it with Majestic Pride from my earlier visit.

Only later did I come to know they belong to the same operator. Casino Pride (aka Pride 1) is the original party place while Majestic Pride (aka Pride 2) has been birthed recently to be a lighter version for newbies and low rollers.

Earlier, there was even a possibility to switch between the two with the same ticket! I’m not sure if this facility is still available.

Anyway, Majestic Pride wasn’t much of a fun experience, which is why this bit of information pleasantly surprised me. Casino Pride undoubtedly packed a heavier punch with its high-quality gaming and hospitality.

Declared the best casino in India by the web voting-based Indian Travel Awards, this cruise casino contributes immensely to Goa’s gambling business as well.

Once I had gathered all the information I needed, my journey to the casino began. I was putting up in Panjim, which helped me get a quick, short cab ride to the Captain Of Ports Jetty – the gateway to the casino. Within 5 minutes, I was standing in front of the ticket counter to book my entry.

Photo identity verification is a must at this point. Of course, Covid-19 brought in some additional checkpoints – thermal screening, no-mask no entry criteria, hand sanitization and social distancing. I added a few of my own as well – like the need to wear protective glasses and gloves.

As I headed along with my fellow visitors toward the feeder boat waiting to ferry us, I couldn’t help admire the grand passage I was walking through.

On either side are framed pictures of Indian celebrities and bigshots who once visited the casino. On the top, a row of digital displays flashes all the games available abroad Casino Pride – Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, Tai Sai, Three Card Poker, Paplu, Teen Patti, Andar Bahar, Mini Flush, Casino War, Texas Hold’em, Money Wheel, and more.

What a fantastic welcome!

Soon we were all sailing to the cruise ship where I’d be enjoying one of the most memorable visits to any land-based casino ever. Scroll down to read the full review.

Casino Pride Review – the Melting Pot of Glam and Riches

Exteriors

On the outside, Casino Pride looks like a well-lit, but run-of-the-mill cruise ship. It is devoid of the glamor you’d expect to find in a gambling destination. Minus the lapping waters around, its three storeys resemble a multi-level community hall with long common balconies – nothing like how casinos are supposed to be!

The pontoon isn’t one of the biggest for sure. Thankfully, it isn’t the wobbliest either. However, surprises await inside. The exteriors of the floating ship casino are like a hastily done trailer that eventually leads to a blockbuster movie. Clearly, Casino Pride’s owner – Delhi-based Ashok Khetrapal has invested only where it matters the most.

Interiors

To call it grand would be an understatement. The interiors of the casino are palatial, to say the least. Rows and rows of warm lights glam up the gold pillared ceilings and decks. The flooring, too, is carpeted in absolute regalia. A central atrium opens up to connect all the levels.

The ship is sprawled out on three floors that spread over 30,000 square feet of area where more than 500 guests can find their gambling haven at the same time. In a way, the interiors compensate for everything the exteriors lack!

Slot machines

Let’s talk about which floor has what.

  • Level 1: This is the gaming floor of Casino Pride where plenty of slot machines and a variety of Indian and International games tables games await punters.
  • Level 2: Floor number 2 on Casino Pride is a VIP zone reserved for special guests. A variety of gambling games are available here as well. However, you need either an invite or have to cough up more money to access this level.
  • Level 3: The third floor houses an open-air restaurant, a party stage and a kid’s zone. Live performances are hosted and world-class cuisines served right here. Caretakers attend to your kids and keep them busy with video games while you have fun.

Entry Fee

Casino Pride is one of the best budget gambling destinations in India. Compared to the services one receives here, I’d call its entry fee a measly amount.

Depending on the day and period of the year of your visit, it would range anywhere from ₹1500 to ₹2500. Each package would also include a play coupon or chips worth ₹500 to ₹1500.

Photo Identification

Money is not the only criterion to buy your entry into Casino Pride. Verifying your identity is equally important.

You can enter the ship casino only if you have a valid photo identity proof issued by the Government of India. It can be anything including your Voter ID, PAN card, ADHAAR Card or Passport.

This rule is true for all Indians except local Goans whose entry has been already restricted by the State Government. Foreign nationals like me have to furnish our Passport to enter Casino Pride.

Minimum Age for Entry

You must be 21 years of age or above to enter Casino Pride. Visitors below this age limit are treated as minors. Their entry would be restricted either to the kids’ room or the open-air restaurant on the top deck.

Only those people who meet the age criteria would be able to access the gaming floor, play real money casino games and enjoy alcoholic drinks.

Dress Code

Casino Pride seems to be more lenient compared to the other Goa-based casinos when it comes to dress code. You can wear anything ranging from full formals to casuals except sleeveless t-shirts and shorts. A simple pair of jeans and a sleeved t-shirt should be good enough.

Permissible footwear includes shoes, sneakers and boots. Chappals, floaters, and flip-flops are a big no-no. Be prim and proper and there would be no one to stop you at the entrance.

Timing

Casino Pride operates 24/7 days a week and 365 days a year unless the government declares a complete shutdown. Therefore, you can plan a visit whenever you wish.

However, it is good to keep in mind that the live entertainment section is operational only between 9 PM and 11 PM every day. Also, unlimited snacks are served till 8.30 PM and dinner between 9 PM and 1:30 AM.

I received this information directly from the casino when planning my visit. But the timings are subject to change without prior notice. I suggest you get in touch with the casino’s customer care department beforehand so you can plan a hassle-free trip.

Acceptable Payment Modes

In an era of digital payment, any casino, whether land-based or online, should accept internet banking solutions. Casino Pride claims to do the same. In theory, it lets you pay via credit cards, debit cards, net banking, e-wallets, UPI, IMPS, and other mobile payment solutions.

However, it’s a different situation in reality.

The casino is heavily reliant on cash payments. This is a major downside that can easily lead to visitors voting with their feet. I am not sure why Casino Pride insists on cash payments, but the most possible reason could be to operate under the radar without attracting legal action.

Available Games

As discussed earlier, Casino Pride lets you play the following games:

Food and Beverages

The food section on the casino’s weather deck serves some of the most delectable cuisines from India and beyond. Apart from the usual snacks, starters, main course and desserts, Casino Pride also has a North Indian chaat corner and a barbecue section. Visitors can relish veg as well as non-veg dishes and help themselves to unlimited servings.

Because every floor has a well-stocked bar, refilling is never a problem on Casino Pride. Drinks include non-alcoholic beverages, cocktails, mocktails and house brand liquor. IMFL and imported brand liquor are rare, but not unavailable. You get them for free when if you’re playing a casino game. Otherwise, you need to pay for your drink.

If you are visiting with your children, know that snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are also served in the kids’ zone.

Entertainment

Up on the top deck, Casino Pride comes alive! Bollywood dance troupes, Russian dancers, musicians and vocalists pour their heart and soul into the performances to offer you a night filled with entertainment. Your trip to the casino is incomplete without a visit to Level 3.

Special Events

Casino Pride organizes a lucky draw every day at 2 AM where winners receive generous amounts of One-Time Play (OTP) chips. All you need to do is be their guest. The staff drops your name for the contest.

Weekdays see three lucky winners win chips worth ₹15000, ₹25000 and ₹50000. Weekends witness even bigger prizes – ₹30000, ₹60000 and ₹110000. The winner needs to be present on the gaming floor to collect the prize.

In another event called the Women’s Gala, the casino hands out OTP chips worth ₹500 to its female guests every day. However, there’s a catch: these chips need to be used on the same night and only on a single game. They can’t be carried forward or used in multiple casino games.

Terms and Conditions

  • Photography and videography are prohibited on the gaming floors. However, you can click pictures inside the restaurant, on the top deck, and of live shows.
  • Refunds are not possible in case of unavailability of the open-air restaurant due to private functions, bad weather conditions or any untoward situation.
  • Debit and credit cards must carry the name of the cardholder, which must match with the name on the photo identification proof.
  • Cards issued to holders of joint account are not accepted for payments.
  • International cards cannot be accepted.
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited on all the three floors and limited only to dedicated smoking zones.
  • OTP chips cannot be used to bet on opposite betting areas (think Red and Black or Even and Odd bets in Roulette).
  • The use of OTP chips is not permissible on Slot Machines, Poker, and Teen Patti.
  • Players cannot encash their OPT chips.

Verdict

Casino Pride offers everything punters love and more: the best of games, unlimited food, drinks, snacks, live entertainment and most of all, a gambling environment that is nothing short of exquisite. An entry into this grand floating casino doesn’t dent your wallet or let you return disappointed. In a nutshell, Casino Pride in Goa offers great value for money!

Visiting is believing.
